So this MLK weekend I decided to head down to Santa Cruz to go visit my friends down there. I left on Friday night and I had a pretty fun time driving down there. As usual, driving there on the curvy roads is always an adventure; dodging traffic and trying to go along with the flow of the dips and dives in the pavement. It was as if I was surfing along the road, eyes steadfast to the road in front of me, trying to anticipate the next curve. I nearly got lost also, because I almost took the wrong exit, which would have been disastrous. But good driving prevailed and I got to Santa Cruz just fine.
That night was really fun. I can hardly remember what we did because it all went by really fast. I think we just played Wii the whole night and danced to Rayman Raving Rabbits. You can see some of the videos at the end of this post. Its a really fun game and we all got really tired cause of it. My arms are still a little sore from all the effort that we all put into that game. I'm seriously starting to forget all the things that we did. As time goes by, its all fast becoming a blur because my memory seems to have holes in them. Maybe its because of the mad cow disease.
The next day I believe we woke up early to go to Cafe Brazil, but the wait was around an hour long so we decided to just go get sushi instead. We ate at this place called Sushi Totoro, and right when I walked in the door, I was impressed by the interior design of the place. From the outside the place looks like just another one of those hole in the wall sushi houses, but when you step inside you just feel the atmosphere of the place, kind of like feeling an aura. The walls were covered in polaroid pictures of past customers, which I really enjoyed. I really love the idea of having a mosaic of pictures as a wallpaper, because thats how it is in my own room and thats how I cant the rooms in my future house to be. It just gives you something new to look at everytime you step into the room. You can walk around and look at only one picture a day, study it and become its friend, and continue this cycle till you get through all of them. And when that finally happens, chances are that you can go all the way back to the beginning and meet up with that first picture, as if you were reuniting with an old friend.
To be honest though, as much as I liked the design of the place, and as much as I liked the speedyness of the server and the sushi chefs, the sushi was average. It would have been good had the rice been abit more moist and soft, but it felt harder than normal rice, as if I could feel every grain in my mouth splitting apart. Not a very good feeling. It was a pretty nice place to visit though and I would go back there again.
After that, we all went to the bordwalk. Oh I should probably introduce all of us. It was me, Andy, Monica, Stephanie, Alex, and Johnny, so that equals 6. Kinda like a full party on maple eh? Well we arrived at the boardwalk and got our all-day wristbands and had alot of fun riding the rides. The first ride we went on was Doubleshot which is basically like drop zone exccept that it blasts you straight up in the air, then down, then up again, and down; hence a doubleshot. The ride was pretty fun but it wasn't the same as skydiving. Once you go skydiving, no falling ride ever feels the same. The first time I went on the ride though, I was lauging pretty hard because I was sitting next to a middle aged woman and she was screaming her head off on the ride. Afterwards she was saying stuff like "oh man I needa go to the bathroom" and "I just ruined my pants". Funny how people that know they can't take rides like that go on them anyways.
Well I'm not going to describe each and every ride because that' be boring, but I do remember going on one of those spinning rides and getting a little queasy, then we went on the Merry-Go-Round. That ride was actually kinda cool, considering that it was a real Merry-Go-Round that had the rings that you could throw. I kept one of the rings also. Its basically just a metal ring, nothing special, nothing out of the ordinary. I decided to keep it though just for the memory of actually riding the ride, even though I left the ring in Santa Cruz. . .
Oh another highlight of the boardwalk was that me, Monica, Andy, and Alex went into one of the haunted houses over there. It wasn't that scary but it was pretty cool to walk through it. I almost got lost plenty of times andI actually did get scared at two points in the house. One was when they shot out random air at us, and the other was when the floor dropped out from under us and we fell for a few inches. It probably wasn't worth the money we payed to get in it but it was pretty fun and it created a few memories.
I think the holes from the mad cow disease are messing with my brain, because I don't really remember when we did after the Boardwalk. I think we went back to Andy's place to go play some more RRR but I'm not sure. Was that the night that we all went to Chili's? I think it was. Well we walked around the mall that night after the boardwalk, and we all had our own little adventures there. Alex had a run in with one of those massage chairs, and me and Monica saw the screaming chicken. Now whenever I see a chicken I think of Monica and that damn scremaing chicken. We finally ended up at Chili's though, and we ate alot there. It was a pretty good dinner I guess, considering Chili's food haha. Well after that we went back to Andy's and just chilled there. Played some more Wii and PS3 and eventually we went to sleep.
I should explain some of the random stuff that was going on with me at their place. I forgot to bring a towel, so I had to use one of Andy's, and it was a used towel and it was a bit gross but I don't really care. I also had to use Andy's soap and shampoo, because I couldn't use Steph' and I didn't wanna smell like Monica so I just used Andy's. I think I smelled like Andy for that entire weekend. Also, I forgot to bring a toothbrush, but I had left my old toothbrush there from my last visit to Santa Cruz so I just used that one. I also got to sleep in Monica's sleeping bag which was really warm and comfy. I brought blankets from my dorm over to their place but Alex was the only one that ended up using them. Wait I think Monica used them also when she slept on the couch. Well whatever I'm not sure anymore. Its been too long.
Well Sunday was another interesting day. I think we went out to McDonalds for breakfast (yet again breaking my resolution) and I had a few McChickens there. At least we walked to McD's from the apartment, so at least we burned off a few calories doing that. After that, I believe we went back to the apartment to hang out for awhile because of a certain situation that developed. Well after countless hours of video game playing, I think we went bowling that night. Bowling in Santa Cruz is always fun because we all have our own distince bowling styles. My style is that I just fling it down there as hard as I can and spin it as hard as I can, Andy just fings it straight down at a normal speed, Johnny walks up and hardly throws the ball up and it somehow goes with alot of power, Monica just drops the ball haha, and Alex has like, the style of a PRO. Seriously, he measures himself on the back dots and curves the ball with some ferocious form and even strikes a pose at the end. I think that if the lane wasn't super oiled up, then Alex would have won, because the lane was crazy oiled. Like, the ball wouldn't even curve back towards the pins no matter how hard me and him spun it. It was funny though, cause I used my new secret weapon, the 8 pound ball, and flung it down as fast as I could and it had crazy results. Well i the end, Andy won just like the last time we went to Santa Cruz. One of these days, I'll be taking that title away from you Andy haha.
Well after bowling, naturally we got pretty hungry. So we kinda just randomly drove along the road and ended up at this diner in Santa Cruz, aptly named the Santa Cruz diner. It was kinda weird eating there though, because at first we got seated in this one section and we waited there for hella long, then later onthe waitress came and told us we couldn't sit there because she couldn't handle us, so she made us walk over to this other seat, where this other waitress said we couldn't sit because someone was sitting there already, so we had to move back to our previous seat where the old waitress served us because apparently she could handle us after all. Sighhhhhh well at least the food was pretty good and there were little trivia cards to keep us entertained. Sad thing is, I paid with my card and I didnt tip them on it because I thought they were gonna tip at the table, but they didnt so we ended up not tipping haha.
Well the next day was Monday. The first thing I can remember about that day is that Johnny and Alex left to go home. Aww sadness. Well I just remember taking a really long nap, and then we went to Safeway because Andy and Monica needed to stock up on their food items. Andy bought sooooo many frozen dinners haha. It was funny to see his basket just filled with them. Also I enjoyed seeing Monica walking around with what looked like just a single bag of chips in her basket. Im pretty sure she had more than that, but this chips were just huge and they dominated everything else. Personally, I just bought cereal and milk cause those are the essentials of life for me haha. Well we went back to their apartment, and I proceeded to eat half the box of cereal because of my hunger. After that we went to their friends bday party which was pretty cool I guess. I actually remember alot of the peoples names haha. I think after that we just went back home and played card games and Wii and then slept. Oh I actually slept on the stairs that night which was pretty fun. It was the best sleep I had there the whole weekend because it was colder there for some reason.
Well I stayed there until Tuesday, even though I had class that day, but it doesn't really matter because it was just Ping Pong and Badminton class so I didn't miss much. I think on Tuesday me and Monica basically just killed time with each other for the entire day haha. Then we drove Andy to his class, then we killed some more time, then we picked Andy up, and got JJ and BK then we headed back to UCSC for their CSA. There they basically just practiced their skit which was funny to watch because Andy and Monica are so awkward together on stage haha. I'm kinda sad that I'm gonna miss them perform it though because it falls on the same day as my Spring Sectionals and theres no way I'm missing those. Well yeah after that I pretty much just drove home and arrived safe and sound in Hayward.
Well to be honest, that was probably one of the funnest weekends ive had in a long time. I seem to always have a fun time whenever I go to Santa Cruz because of how easy it is to get along with everyone down there. I can basically act like myself without feeling any negative vibes from people. And yeah thanks to all of you for letting me stay at your place. I'm forever indebted to you haha. I'm looking forward to the next time I get to hang out with everyone down there. Till next time.

More than one cavity filled
Well there hasn't been much that happened in recent days since my last post. Really the only thing i've been doing these past few days is go to class and work outside the bookstore. Seriously not alot to report on haha. I think i'm just writing this post just cause I got nothing else to do, and also cause I forgot to bring my camera so I can't make any videoblogs. Sucks but yeah I just gotta use the resources that I have.
So today I went to the dentists office and I got my cavities filled. It felt really good being udner the dentists gas. I actually fell asleep on the dentists chair because they had me waiting there for like 20 minutes and the dentist woke me up by sticking that mirror thing in my mouth. What an awkward way to be awoken haha. But the whole operation went alright. My mouth felt numb for a really long time afterwards though. It was as if I could have chewed on the top part of my mouth and not felt a thing. Also my lips got like, really huge afterwards and I didn't know why. I think theyre back to normal size though so yeah.
So far the school year has been really good. I've already made alot of new friends in my classes and it just feels really good to be back in Hayward hanging out with AphiO. Feels good being myself again. The only thing thats making this whole thing not perfect is that theres some people that aren't down here and I wish they were but yeah, I can deal with it, and also a trip to Davis would fix all that haha. But yeah I'm excited for life this quarter and for life in the future.

A Shiny New Quarter
So yeah winter break is over and school starts once again. To be honest, ive really missed Hayward. I find it weird that I felt a little homesick over a place thats not even my real home. But it does feel real good to be back though. Its really nice seeing some of the old faces all over again and even though I still haven't seen everyone yet, I know I eventually will.
Lately ive been volunteering at the bookstore for the backpack checkins. To be honest, it seems like a really shitty job but its actually one of the funnest things ive done for AphiO. I like itneracting with all of the customers. I find myself having such a good time while doing it that I can't stop smiling and being happy, and it kind of passes onto the customers. They see me having a fun time and they can't help but smile back at me and it just gives me a good feeling knowing that I brightened up their day for that one brief instance.
Working outside the bookstore also gives me a chance to see all of my old friends from over the years. One of my biggest gripes about college is that its hard to keep in contact with some people, because if you only have one class with a certain friend then its nearly impossible to find them on campus without making some prior arrangement. But now working in front of the bookstore has helped me to at least say hi and catch up a little bit with some of my friends.
Oh I am extremely excited about classes this quarter. I love not having any science classes at all. Its like 10 tons off my back. My classes on Mondays are really interesting actually. My stats class seems like it will be bearable after all. I was scared because my teacher has a fobby name and I thought she may have an accent, and she does but its understandable. Shes also really cutesy, like her powerpoint has a Snoopy wallpaper. I was like "awww how cute". My other class on Monday is with my favorite professor ever, Melissa Michelson. Shes the only professor that ive ever quoted on my facebook because shes that damn good. She has a way of keeping you interested in whatever shes talking about because shes always in such a great mood when shes teaching. She always smiles and shes really entertaining which makes everything fun. The last class I took with her, she made the class cupcakes, which is never a negative. Seriously, when can you go wrong with cupcakes? Oh wait, diabetes parties. My last class on Mondays is with professor Zajac and shes cool. Not really the most entertaining person in the world but I know I'll pass the class with a decent grade cause shes easy. Shes also my department chair now that im a Criminal Justice Major. Oh thats right, I had to switch majors because of Organic Chem. I don't know why they're making us learn stuff like that. Unless you're going to be seriously researching how to make new chemicals, you don't need to know stuff like that. And I sure as hell never would have used it in forensics so whatever now. I choose Criminal Justice because its still similar to forensics, and hopefully with this degree I can do something in the line of detective work.
My Tuesdays are really cool also because I got Badminton and Ping Pong class one after the other. I made a few new friends in class today already also because I knew one of the girls in my Ping Pong class and she introduced me to her other friends that were also doing the same thing I'm doing, which is taking both classes one after the other. The only thing that sucks about it is the teachers because I don't think theyre gonna just let us play right away, but I know that it'll all be good because I already know how to play both sports decent enough. I'm a little worried about badminton though, because even though I used to play alot back in high school and during the first few years of college, I haven't played in about a year. I'm sure I'll be fine though after like, an hour or two.
So far I am surviving my 2nd quarter of college in my 3rd year. I had Jamba Juice for dinner today (yeah Jamba Mamba!) and tomorrow I'll be done at noon, which is very nice. I'm looking forward to working for around 7 hours tomorrow at the bookstore. I kinda have a new goal, which is to get the top hours for this year for service. I might as well start off strong you know. So till next time.
