Chemistry

Me and my Organic Chem teacher have problems. Its only been like, 3 or 4 weeks into the quarter and we've had numerous arguments about the most pointless stuff.

Our first argument had to do with the lab notebooks. In our chem lab, we need special carbon paper lab notebooks. And I didn't buy the book in a packet because I wanted to save money, so I ordered it offline. And you know how it is when you order stuff offline; it comes like 2 or 3 weeks later. So obviously by the time our first lab report in lab was due, I didn't have my lab notebook there. When I asked my teacher if it was alright that I didn't have the lab notebook yet, he went into this little stuck up tone of voice and started lecturing me about how I need a lab notebook and how I could have went to another school and gotten one. First off, I find it fucked up that I'd have to go out of my way and drive to a totally different school just to pick up a lab notebook. Secondly, while he was lecturing me about the "necessities of having a lab notebook", he said the line "its not science if its not written in a lab notebook". What the fuck does that mean? Apparently nothings science unless its written in a notebook. This first encounter just got me hella pissed at him and it left me with a bad impression of him.

A week after this me and him had another altercation. This one had to do with the due dates of assignments. I know with our last argument, it was a little bit my fault for not having the notebook, but with this one, its all on him. We had an assignment that everyone was working on, but on the syllabus the due date was a few days later. So when our teacher asked us to turn in the assignments, I told him "thats not what it says on the syllabus". Of course he responds with his typical stuck up tone "well ive always told you assignments are due a week after the due date". Thats hella bullshit because if the date is on your syllabus, then thats what the damn due date should be. I always go by whats in writing rather than words, because people can fuck up while talking, whereas while writing something up, they can go back and review and change it before they make final copies. And what really pisses me off is when I asked him if I could just turn in the assignment on the date on the syllabus just this one time since I apparently didn't know his words come before his own syllabus. He told me I had to have it in by that day, before class ended. Fuck that shit man. Thats not even fair at all. Its his fault for having his own syllabus all fucked up, and hes going to make me either rush to finish the assignment or take points off for having it in late. So here I am rushing my experiment just so I can run to the computer lab and finish the fucking thing. I got it done but its still bullshit how I had to do it. And the funny thing is, the next lab session we met at, he goes and says "I have an announcement, you guys can turn in stuff on the date it says on the syllabus without getting points off." Fucking dumbass teacher. I was just starting him down when he said that but the bitch wouldnt make eye contact. Totally going against his own words. Real good teacher man.

And just a week ago, I brought a drink into lab. Unopened, and I set it on the backshelf next to my backpack so it wouldnt be anywhere near the lab benches. Of course the teacher notices it and tells me to take it and leave it outside. Leave it outside? Its a brand new drink. Hell no am I leaveing it outside. Waste of money. He doesn't even suggest for me to put it in my backpack. He tells me to leave it outside in the hallway. What the fuck kinda shit is that? Its unopened also so theres an airtight seal there, but apparently it didnt matter. I ended up just taking my backpack outside with me and putting the drink in my backpack.

Hes a really horrible teacher also. He'll just start talking and the class will kinda understand it, but all of a sudden he'll just start talking as if its a different language. Today in class, we were just talking about stereoisomers which is confusuin in its own regard, but the class in general was doing alright with it. All of a sudden he switches gear and gets into extracting enantiomers, and he starts naming all these techniques and these different crazy named substances and the whole class got lost within seconds. This kind of thing has happened nearly every class section. Also, whenever someone asks him a question in class, he'll answer the question but it'll be with that sorta stuck up tone like "geez you're so stupid you're supposed to know this already". The guy really knows his shit about ochem, but he cant teach it at all.

Fuck chemistry. I'm going to be matching bullets for my job. I'll never use this shit ever. I'm not going to need to know how 2-dimethylethyl cyclohexane is going to look like so this is all pointless anyways. Just pointless shit theyre feeding us in that class. Waste of time, and if you know me, my biggest pet peeve is when people waste my time.

In other news, aphio is awesomeeeeeeeee.
